I am often asked why I am willing to work with people from all over the world and why should they consider hiring an OBM in a different time zone.
What may be perceived as a disadvantage is, in reality, the biggest advantage for your online business.
Even in a fast-paced environment transitioning from the physical to the online world, we are still attached to what we have learned in the past, and still imagine being connected 24/7 with our team/clients/processes
But this is something that is not true when working online.
Firstly: your virtual team (and your OBM) is made up of INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS, working for you for a fixed amount of time every month. This means that they are working on their own terms and according to their personal business hours.

When working virtually, every task has a deadline, which is a non-negotiable point. But people are not physically present in your office. What really matters is that the task is delivered when expected. When it’s done, is not something for you to have to think about (you have more important things to do!).
Moreover, the time difference may be an advantage because your team works when you are not working.
Which means that when you get up, you find everything already done…isn’t it amazing?!?
My role as an OBM is to check that things get done in the right way, at the right time, and by the right people. I work in the backend and am focused on planning and checking.
This is why I like having meetings in my very early morning WITH my Australian clients and in the late afternoon WITH my USA clients.
My day in between is quiet enough to let me work FOR my clients, so they can find everything up and running when THEY are working.
This routine works perfectly and helps me build the business I have always wanted.
Why?
Basically, for the following reasons:
- My timetable. No more 9-5, no more boss, no more colleagues I can’t choose. I am in charge of deciding my business hours, my business terms, and the people I work with. I suffered from a lack of freedom for over 17 years in my previous corporate job and when I was able to quit and start a new adventure, there was an entire world out there that I had been missing for too long.
- My clients. I am blessed because I work with amazing people. But what makes me even happier is that I am truly interested in and committed to their business. I love everything related to business, mindset, and nutrition and all of my clients are in these industries. ” Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”…who said that?
- The language. I work in English with English-speaking clients. But, as you may have guessed by now, I am not a native English speaker (Italian girl here). Being able to practice, work and engage in English is something that gives me a super-power. Maybe English-speaking people do not realize how lucky they are to be able to speak their language everywhere and be easily understood. It’s not that easy for other people to master more than one language and, English being a universally known language, I feel I can go everywhere and engage with everyone. I have clients from 6 different countries in the world which means I get to interact with amazing people from different cultures. I feel so lucky!
